IX's customer service is DEFINITELY on the rise. Not sure if any of the previous posters had noticed that they actually Twitter and blog ANYTHING that is going on with their web servers(http://status.ixwebhosting.com/ and http://twitter.com/ixstatus). On top of that, they have HUGE plans to revamp their customer service in the form of a "Personal Hero" that all customers can depend on. I would challenge readers to try them out and see if you get better response times to their issues from the other competitors.

The overall plan is fairly good. Online chat with customer service is reliable and efficient. I have been their customer for 1.5 years now. Over the course, their service has degraded. The web based email is the worst part. 90% of the time I do not get any email at are sent to me. 100% of the time any/all attachments sent comes as "Files contain virus and has been deleted." This happens even when I send myself a clean word attachment. Logging in the user account is often slow. Some good points: File transfer/upload is reliable and quick. Although you have to select and add one file at a time. This adds up a lot of time if you are uploading a full set of html and jpg/gif files. Batch file upload will be helpful. Another good point: Control panel offers lots of features, but some of them are clumsy to use. CGIs are not intuitive for newbies. In summary, I am not sure what happened to a perfectly web hosing company in the face of competition. IX Web Hosting should try to come back to to pristine state that it once was. I am still rooting for them!

Loads of free space.. I have their unlimited space plan and think its a good deal ONLY if you want a web host but plan to host your emails elsewhere. Email hosting is where the fly comes into the ointement. Their email hosting stinks... they keep deleting my mail folders (IMAP mail) and then blame the web interface for the issue. Their customer service is very very rude. I am looking to move my site... SUMMARY: look elsewhere.

I have hosted with IX for going on 8 years. Their customer service is in the U.S. and excellent. About 18 months ago, they 'upgraded' me to new new Control Panel CP9. It has been a complete nightmare since then. I am currently experiencing an outage for all 14 of my sites that are hosted on CP9 - and it is going on 5 hours. I DO NOT recommend IX to anyone - unless you are have no need for hosting, are lonely and just want to pay $X per month to talk to an English speaking support tech... which is probably worth it. Nevertheless, the techs are no help when your servers are down.

The next generation of HTML, the language that specifies exactly how text and images will be displayed on a web page. Dynamic HTML, developed by Netscape and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), is based entirely on industry-standard HTML and Java. New features in Dynamic HTML, such as absolute positioning, give designers and developers greater control over the look and feel of web pages.
